In the frame of the exhibition 'Re:Public', Jakub Szczęsny and Hadas Tuval redefine the rooftop as a public space, where city dwellers get a chance to form a community and weave new connections under a temporary canopy

This lightly covered space invites visitors to explore the thin line separating belonging and connection from seclusion and disconnection.

The metal cables Szczęsny extended across the rooftop are the Warp to Tuval's Weft, weaved from repurposed sacks that have been recycled, dismantled, and placed in a new array.

The two artists attempt to reconnect the neighbors - the newcomer Liebling Haus and its surrounding buildings - through new connections and relationships. The Fifth Space will host monthly events focusing on connection, belonging, and an affinity to a place and its culture.

Mat weaving workshop in the fifth space

This workshop was the first act of turning the Liebling Haus' rooftop into a meeting space. the place, where joint action and hosting takes place.

Using the leftover material used for the cover of “The fifth space” installation, in 2 workshops, guided by Hadas Tuval, we wove mats as a permanent furniture to be used by future visitors of the roof top.
